Police Deploy K9 Unit Against Drug Menace in Budgam

April 2026: In a significant step towards strengthening its anti-narcotics efforts under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Police in Budgam has deployed its trained Narcotic Dog Squad to detect and curb drug trafficking across the district.

According to a police statement, as part of the intensified drive, sniffer dogs were deployed at key locations, including the New Bus Stand Budgam, to assist in identifying concealed contraband substances and tracking drug peddlers.

The specialized canine unit enhances the operational capabilities of the police by enabling precise detection and timely recovery of illicit narcotics, the police said in a statement.

“This proactive initiative aims to dismantle the supply chain of drugs and create a strong deterrent against those involved in narcotics trade,” as per police statement.

Police reaffirms its unwavering commitment to utilizing all available resources to combat the drug menace and to work towards the realization of a drug-free society.
