Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday said to have solved a theft case by arresting two accused and recovered stolen property approximately 19.50 Lacs in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
A Police spokesperson said, “PS Chadoora received a written application from Mehraj-u-din Matta S/O Manzoor Ahmad Matta R/O Nai Sadak Habbakadal Srinagar to the effect that during the intervening night of 30th April/1st May 2024 some unknown thieves have stolen 96 XCMG drilling Rods at Madbal Sogam crossing.
On the receipt of this complaint, FIR No : 57/24 u/s 379 IPC was registered and the investigation was taken up.”
“During the course of investigation, many suspects were questioned and during the questioning, the below mentioned suspected persons namely Mubarak Hussain Khatana S/O Mohd Bashir Khatana R/o Seela Reasi and Shahzad Ahmad Gakhar S/O Mohd Haneef Gakhar R/O Thanamandi Rajouri confessed their involvement in the crime”, he said.
He said that on their disclosure, PS Chadoora swiftly swung into action and succeeded in recovering the whole of the stolen 96 XCMG drilling Rods along with a truck which was used in commission of crime bearing registration No. JK02AQ 8275. The value of this recovered stolen property is approximately 19.50 Lacs. Both the accused have been arrested.
