Baramulla, June 27: Police on Tuesday cracked the whip on stunt bikers and traffic rules violators in the Kunzer town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district and seized over a dozen two-wheelers besides booking many drivers.
“In a determined effort to curb the rising number of traffic violations and subsequent accidents in Kunzer Town, Baramulla Police launched an extensive crackdown targeting stunt bikers, triple riders, and individuals riding without helmets,” a police official told Rising Kashmir.
He said the drive was led by Inspector Waseem Jahangir, Station House Officer of Police Station Kunzer, and 14 two-wheelers were seized while 14 violators were booked.
The official said the recent surge in traffic violations prompted the Baramulla Police to take immediate action to address the issue and ensure the safety of motorists and pedestrians.
“The focus of the operation was primarily on stunt biking, triple riding, rash and negligent driving, as well as riding without helmets, all of which pose significant risks to both the violators and others on the road,” he said.
The official said a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered at Police Station Kunzer under the relevant sections of the law, and an investigation is underway.
The proactive efforts of the Baramulla Police have garnered appreciation from the general public, who commend their vigilance in enforcing traffic rules and regulations especially ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
Police have urged people to exercise caution while driving vehicles by wearing helmets and strictly adhering to traffic rules.
