Police conduct awareness-cum-quiz programme on new criminal laws

  Srinagar, Oct 03: Police in Sopore Friday organised an awareness-cum-quiz programme on the New Criminal Laws at Netherfield Public School, Sopore. The initiative aimed at educating students about the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, which replace the IPC, CrPc and Indian Evidence Act respectively. As per a statement issued here, students enthusiastically participated in the interactive quiz, testing their knowledge and understanding of the new legal framework. The programme also featured awareness sessions where officers highlighted the rights, responsibilities, and major reforms introduced in the new criminal laws. The objective was to empower youth with legal literacy, nurture responsible citizenship and promote awareness of justice and accountability under the new system. J&K Police reaffirmed its commitment to spreading awareness, building trust with the younger generation and fostering a law-abiding and informed society.
