Police bust narco- terror module in Baramulla

Srinagar, Jan 05: In an effort to clampdown on the prevalent narco-terrorism, The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday busted a narco module by arresting five drug peddlers including a female in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district. Police said that contraband substances have also been recovered from their possession.
A Police official said that a police party of Police Station Baramulla headed by SHO PS Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Kralhar Baramulla, intercepted one vehicle Tata Venture bearing registration number JK05D-3072 in which five persons including one lady were boarded.
“During their search, 45 grams of contraband Brown Sugar & 345 grams of Charas like substances was recovered from their possession,” he said.
They were identified as Sharik Ahmad Sheikh son of Ab Rashid, Sharif Ahmad Sheikh son of Bashir Ahmad, Irfan Ahmad Sheikh son of Mushtaq Ahmad, Muskaan Bano wife of Irfan Ahmad all residents of DewanBagh Baramulla & Bakir Ahmad Rather son of Ab Qayoom Rather resident of Chandsooma Kanispora. They have been arrested and shifted to PS Baramulla were they remained in custody,” he said.
The official said following which, a case under relevant sections of law have been registered at police Station Baramulla and investigations have been initiated.
Similarly police have booked the most wanted and notorious lady drug smuggler under PIT NDPS Act in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district and lodged him in Central Jail Kot-bhalwal Jammu.
He said the most wanted and notorious lady drug smuggler namely Afroza Begum alias Afree wife of Late Fayaz Ahmad Dar resident of Ganie Hamam Baramulla A/P Hygam Sopore has been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority.
“The booked lady drug smuggler has been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-balwal Jammu,” the spokesman said.
Pertinent to mention here that many cases are registered against the lady drug smuggler and was involved in promoting drug abuse by supplying drugs to local youth of Baramulla, Hygam Sopore & other areas of District.
“Despite her involvement in many FIR’s she did not mend her activities and was again involved in promoting drug abuse by supplying drugs to local youth,” the police officer said.
