Srinagar ,May 20: In a significant crackdown under the Nasha Mukht Abhiyan, Srinagar Police unearthed an alleged illicit liquor and fuel distribution racket in the Batamaloo area, leading to the seizure of a large quantity of contraband liquor, beer, diesel, and petrol.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a team from Police Station Shaheed Gunj carried out a targeted operation during routine naka checking in Batamaloo.

During the operation, police recovered a substantial stock of illicit liquor, beer bottles, and illegally stored fuel allegedly meant for unauthorized distribution.

The accused has been identified as Kaiser Hameed Sofi resident of Firdousabad Batmaloo .

Authorities said the seized fuel and liquor were being stored and distributed in violation of legal regulations, posing serious safety and public health concerns.

An FIR has been registered at Police Station Shaheed Gunj under relevant provisions of the Excise Act and the Essential Commodities (EC) Act.

Further investigation is underway to trace the source of the contraband and identify possible links in the supply chain.

Police officials reiterated their commitment to intensifying operations against illegal liquor smuggling, fuel hoarding, and black-market activities across Srinagar.

They stated that strict action will continue against individuals involved in unlawful trade practices to ensure public safety and maintain law and order in the city.
