Police book four notorious narcotics offenders under PIT NDPS Act

Sopore, Sep 30: In its relentless war against drugs, Police have booked four habitual and notorious narcotics offenders under the stringent Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (PIT NDPS).As per a statement issued here, the offenders, identified as--Owais Bashir Shikari son of Bashir Ahmad Shikari resident of Sher Colony Sopore, Saraj-u-Din Parray son of Muhammad Mukhtar Parray resident of Parraypora, Hadipora, Waseem Ahmad Mir S/O Ghulam Hassan Mir R/O Aadipora, Sopore and Imtiyaz Ahmad Dhobi S/O Ali Mohammad Dhobi R/O Dangiwacha, Rafiabad. “They have a proven history of repeated involvement in drug trafficking cases. Despite earlier arrests and preventive actions, they continued their illicit activities, posing a serious threat to the society,” the statement said. “After preparation of detailed dossiers and sanction from the competent authority, detention orders were executed and the accused lodged in District Jail Poonch and Central Jail Kot-Balwal.” The statement said that Police are maintaining strict surveillance on such repeat offenders, and many more will be detained in coming days for their continued role in the narcotics trade. “All necessary steps will be taken to uproot the menace of drugs from Sopore,” the statement said.
