In a major breakthrough against the drug menace, Police in Shopian attached a double-storey residential house worth ₹22,17,827/- lacs and cash amount of Rs. 14,52,100/- lacs belonging to a notorious drug peddler namely Mudasir Ahmad Malik, Yawer Ahmad Malik & Shahid-ul-Islam Malik, sons of Gh Mohd Malik resident of Melhura Zainapora. The action was taken under section 68-E read with 68-F(1) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, as part of the ongoing anti-narcotics drive in the district.

The property attachment is linked to FIR No.54/ 2021 & 87/ 2023 of Police Station Zainapora and was executed in the presence of duly constituted Police team and the Executive Magistrate, ensuring full compliance with legal protocols.

The property was identified as illegally acquired property during the course of investigation/enquiry conducted by Shopian police. The property was prima facie acquired from illicit trafficking in narcotic drug and psychotropic substances by the owner.

This action reaffirms the commitment of police to combat the drug menace. Local people of the area have hailed the initiative of Police with regard to the attachment of immovable property, which has been raised/used from illicit trafficking of narcotics by the drug peddlers in the Shopian district.
