Srinagar, Dec 06: Jammu & Kashmir Police on Wednesday attached a 14-marla residential land in the Ashtangoo area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, belonging to the family of a terror associate.
The attachment order, confirmed by the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, cited the land under Khasra No 1441 registered in the name of Mukhtar Bhat, father of the accused Irfan Ahmad Bhat, associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), residing in Ashtangoo, Tehsil & District Bandipora.
The order, issued in connection with Case FIR No 43/2022 under sections 23UA(P) Act, 04 (b) Explosive Substance Act of Police Station Bandipora, notified the 14 marlas of land as “Proceeds of Terrorism”. The legal owners were informed that the land is now subject to restrictions, prohibiting its transfer, lease, disposal, or any change in its nature without the prior permission of the designated authority. Violation of this order would result in legal consequences, the order warned.
An official told Rising Kashmir that the attachment was made in connection with FIR No. 43/2022, identifying the land as the proceeds of terrorism and invoking the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). The land is associated with the family of Irfan Ahmad Bhat, a known terror associate of LeT, whose brother had reportedly exfiltrated to Pakistan in 2000.
