Police attach properties of three Pak-based terror handlers in Budgam

‘Move aimed at dismantling logistical, financial, operational networks of terror groups’

Srinagar, Jul 16: Police on Wednesday said they attached three properties belonging to Pakistan-based terrorist handlers (JKNOP) in Budgam district.The move is part of the ongoing crackdown on terror operatives and their support networks, a police spokesperson said in a statement issued here.The properties are located in Khag, Chewa Beerwah, and Harwani Khansahib, and the action was carried out in the presence of concerned Executive Magistrates.The operation was conducted under FIR No. 58/2024, registered under sections 7/25 of the Indian Arms Act, and sections 18, 20, 23 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), along with proceedings initiated under Section 25 of UAPA for attachment of properties used in terrorist activities, according to the statement.The attached properties belong to the accused individuals, who are currently operating from across the border. According to the spokesperson, these include Manzoor Ahmad Chopan @ Rayees, son of Gh. Mohi-ud-din Chopan, resident of Harwani Khansahib—double-storeyed residential house with premises at Harwani Khansahib, Khasra No. 763; Mohammad Yousuf Malik @ Molvi, son of Ab. Rahim Malik, resident of Chewa Budgam—double-storeyed house and 5 Kanals, 13 Marlas of land at Chewa Budgam, Khasra No. 151; and Bilal Ahmad Wani @ Umer, son of Gh. Ahmad Wani, resident of Nagbal Khag—land measuring 19.5 Marlas at Khag, Khasra Nos. 1093 and 1094.“These terror handlers, operating from Pakistan, have been actively orchestrating and facilitating terrorist activities in the region for years. The attachment of their properties is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle logistical, financial, and operational networks of terror groups and their cross-border sponsors,” police said. “This decisive move sends a strong message that such anti-national activities will face strict legal consequences.”“Police reaffirms their commitment to uphold law and order and ensure the peace and security of the region,” the spokesperson said.
