Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested 06 gamblers and seized stake money and playing cards from their possession in North Kashmir’s Sopore.
A Police spokesperson said, “On a specific information regarding gambling activities at Ladoora Rafiabad, a police party of Police Post Watergam headed by IC PP Watergam under the supervision of SDPO Rafiabad Shri. Aabid Rashid Mir-JKPS and SHO PS Dangiwacha raided the specific spot. On seeing the police party, gamblers tried to flee but were apprehended tactfully. They have been identified as Ghulam Mohammad Shah son of Ghulam Mohi-u-din Shah resident of Naidkhai Sumbal, Tariq Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Gani Dar resident of Johama Baramulla, Sahil Altaf Shah son of Mohammad Altaf Shah, Shahid Mohi-u-din Shah son of Ghulam Mohi-u-din Shah, Suhail Javaid Shah son of Javaid Ahmad Shah and Bilal Nazir Shah son of Nazir Ahmad Shah, residents of Ladoora Rafiabad.”
“Officers have seized stake money of ₹5,200/- & playing cards from their possession. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at PS Dangiwacha and investigation has been initiated”, he said.
Persons found indulging in criminal activities shall be strictly dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
