Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sheikh Aadil Mushtaq, was apprehended by the Srinagar police on Thursday, facing multiple charges.
A senior police officer told Rising Kashmir that DySP Sheikh Adil has been formally arrested on charges of “corruption”. Case stands registered at Police Station Nowgam, he said.
The official said arrest was followed a search conducted at his residence near the BSNL exchange in Sanathnagar, Srinagar, earlier this week, during which various documents, a laptop, and other electronic devices were confiscated.
The officer was interrogated in connection with a case, and subsequently, he was formally taken into custody under FIR no 149 of 2023.
“The charges against him include sections 167, 193, 201, 210, 218, 221 of the Indian Penal Code and sections 7 and 7A of the Corruption Act,” the official noted.
Further investigations are ongoing in the case, the officer said.
