Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, the Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday have arrested 3 drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
A police party led by Incharge Police Post Palhallan under the supervision of SDPO Pattan Mohd Nawaz-JKPS at a checkpoint established at Jamal Mir Pattan intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK01L-4881 with three persons on board who tried to flee from the spot but were apprehended tactfully. During search, 145 gams of Charas like substance were recovered from their possession.
They have been identified as Riyaz Ahmad Gojri son of Mohd Ramzan Gojri resident of Jamia Mohalla Pattan, Naseer Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Mohd Bhat resident of Pattan and Imtiyaz Ahmad Sada son of Mohd Subhan Sada resident of Aram Mohalla Pattan. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pattan and investigation has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
