Police in Handwara have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance & cash from their possession.
A police party of Police Station Kralgund at a checkpoint established at Lokipora intercepted a vehicle (Wagon-R) bearing registration number JK06A-3708 with two persons on board. They have been identified as Javid Ahmad Bhat son of Gh Qadir resident of Barsoo Ganderbal and Ashiq Ellahi Parray son of Ab Razaq resident of Lawaypora HMT Srinagar. During search, 14 grams of Brown Sugar, 03 cell phones and cash amount of ₹20,000/- (believed to be proceeds of narcotic crime) were recovered from their possession. They have been arrested and the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 18/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at PS Kralgund and investigation has been initiated.
Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making unwavering efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
General public is once again requested to cooperate with police in the battle against the drug menace and any information regarding anti-social activity in their neighbourhood should be shared with nearby police unit so that timely action against the culprits will be taken
