Srinagar, Nov 03: In a significant operation, police and security forces apprehended a hardened associate of the proscribed terrorist group Hizbul Mujahideen in Pulwama, recovering arms and ammunition from his possession. The joint operation involved the Police, Army’s 55 Rashtriya Rifles, and CRPF’s 182 Battalion.
The individual, identified as Sajad Ahmed Dar, son of Nazeer Ahmed Dar and resident of Tahab, Pulwama, was arrested on November 2 during the investigation of FIR No. 224/2024 under sections 4 and 5 of the Explosive Act and sections 18 and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act at Pulwama Police Station.
According to police sources, Sajad Ahmed revealed a cache of arms hidden inside his shop in Dangerpora. Upon raiding the location, security forces recovered one pistol, a magazine with 12 rounds, and two live grenades.
This arrest follows another recent arrest in the same case. On October 29, Danish Bashir Ahangar, also associated with Hizbul Mujahideen, was detained, leading to further intelligence and subsequent seizures. Authorities continue to intensify efforts to dismantle networks supporting terrorist activities in the region.
