Udhampur Police successfully intercepted and arrested three individuals involved in narco-smuggling across three separate incidents, leading to the confiscation of more than 21 kg of poppy straw in the last three days.
Inspector Vijay Kumar, SHO PS Kud, led a police team in apprehending Ashok Kumar from Childi Kither, A/P Chenai. During a frisking operation, 11 kg 140 grams of poppy straw-like substance were discovered in his possession. A case (FIR No.38/2023) has been registered at Police Station Kud, and an investigation is underway.
In another incident at Police Station Rehambal, drug peddler Mohiteshwar Singh was arrested, and 3 kg 140 grams of contraband substance (poppy straw) were seized on 15.11.2023. A case has been registered in this regard.
Furthermore, in a case registered at Police Station Chenani, a Canter vehicle (registration no. PB 02CC 6877) was stopped for checking.
Approximately 7 kg of poppy straw-like substance was found during the inspection, leading to the arrest of Gurpreet Singh from Amritsar, Punjab. Case FIR No. 163/2023 U/S 8/15 NDPS has been registered at PS Chenani, and investigations are ongoing.
