Handwara, Sept 09: To commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Police in Handwara have organised a seminar at Government Degree College Handwara on the theme “Formation of India’s Bureaucracy, Role of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and His Vision of India.”
According to a statement issued here, SSP Handwara, Mushtaq Ahmad Chowdhary-JKPS, attended as chief guest and highlighted Patel’s historic role in unifying over 560 princely states, securing India’s territorial integrity. He underlined Patel’s visionary contribution in laying the foundations of a strong, impartial, and professional bureaucracy, famously described as the “Steel Frame of India.”
Speakers recalled how Patel firmly defended the Indian Civil Services in the Constituent Assembly debates, insisting that only a politically neutral and disciplined bureaucracy could preserve national unity. His emphasis on merit, integrity, and fearless service continues to guide governance in modern India.
The seminar also shed light on Patel’s broader vision of a united, self-reliant nation, where bureaucracy acted as a bridge between the government and the people. Faculty members, students, and police officers actively participated in discussions.
The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where SSP Handwara felicitated participants, reaffirming the J&K Police’s commitment to promote awareness, unity and nation-building.
