Srinagar, Oct 18: Political leaders across the political spectrum in Jammu and Kashmir Tuesday condemned the killing of two non-local labourers in Shopian.
The labourers Monish Kumar and Ram Sagar from Kannauj in Uttar Pradesh got critically injured in this attack, and later both the victims succumbed in the hospital.
National Conference (NC) President and MP from Srinagar Dr. Farooq Abdullah, and vice-president Omar Abdullah condemned the killing.
Condemning the attack, Dr. Farooq said, “I received the news with utmost grief and shock. There are no words strong enough to condemn the attack. I express my sympathies with the bereaved family and pray for peace to the departed souls.”
While condemning the attack, Omar Abdullah said, “Another unacceptable and indefensible targeted attack against minorities in Kashmir. My heartfelt condolences to the families of Monish Kumar and Ram Sagar, may they find strength at this difficult time. Prayers for the souls of the deceased.”
In his statement, Apni Party’s President Syed Mohammad AltafBukhari said, “I am shocked that just two days after a Kashmir PanditPuranKrishanBhat was killed outside his house at the ChowdharyGund village in Shopian, terrorists have again carried a brutal attack against innocent people. I fail to understand what the terrorists want to achieve by killing innocent people. This mindless violence must be put to an end.”
Meanwhile, Apni Party’s Vice President Zaffar Iqbal Manhas has expressed grief and shock over the killings.
Peoples’ Conference (PC) President SajadGani Lone said, “Waking up to the horrific news of the dastardly killing of two people who happen to be non-locals. I condemn the attack in strongest possible terms. Their journey to earn a dignified livelihood ends in bloodbath at the hands of goons. These goons will rot in hell Inshallah.”
PDP leader ArifLaigaroo said there must be an end to bloodshed and that is only possible once if a meaningful dialogue is held.
The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President VikarRasoolWani termed the incident as a gruesome, mindless and ghastly act committed by the militants. The killing of two persons is shocking and very unfortunate, he said.
JKPCC working-president Raman Bhalla urged the LG Administration to take confidence building, for the panic gripped people from outside particularly nonlocal labourers.
Apni Party (AP) general secretary Vijay Bakaya has expressed horror at the cold blooded killing of PuranKrishanBhat, a Kashmiri Pandit and non-locals in Shopian
Bakaya reminded the LG Administration that this incident confirms the apprehension of PM Package employees that the trend of targeted killing of KP’s as earlier stated by him has not ceased and the environment is still not conducive for the PM Package employees to return and work safely in the valley.
