Jammu, Apr 12: A book of Punjabi poetry, titled ‘Kitab Moorti Nahin Hundi’ written by Dr. Monojit, a renowned Punjabi satire writer of Jammu & Kashmir, was released by Punjabi Lekhak Sabha (PLS), Jammu on Friday in a function held at K L Saigal Auditorium, Writers’ Club, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Jammu.
Prof. Baljit Kour, former HoD, Punjabi Department, University of Jammu was the chief guest whereas prominent Punjabi fiction writers of J&K, Kanwal Kashmiree was the guest of honour on this occasion. Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, former Additional Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages presided over the function. Dr. Manjit Singh, a well known Punjabi satire writer and Dr. Baljit Singh Raina, President, PLS-J were present in the presidium. The programme was attended by a number of intellectuals, writers, and scholars and students of Jammu University and others.
Dr. Baljeet Singh Raina, President, PLS-J extended a formal welcome to the guests, writers and the intellectuals present in the programme. He gave a brief of the activities of PLS-J.
Dr. Rajvir Singh and Dr. Gurpreet Kour presented their research papers highlighting the content and features of the literary work included in the book released during the function.
It may be mentioned here that the released poetry book titled ‘Kitab Moorti Nahin Hundi’ is a collection of fifty one poems in satirical hues. The poems included in the book reflect Dr. Monojit’s concern with the values prevailing in the life situations in the contemporary world, and his bold satirical statements on the malpractices in all the societal system. So far Dr. Monojit has contributed thirteen poetry and fiction books to the literary world of Jammu & Kashmir.
While speaking on this occasion, Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn complimented Dr. Monojit for his contribution in the field of literature in a big way in his typical satire writing. In his address he said that his poetry in the book reflect his concern with the value of love in human life, which is essential in evey aspect of life situations and associating oneselfwith The God.
He added that the poems raise a challenge for the readers to think over the issues of concerns in the present times, thus shake the inner self of the readers. The chief guest Dr. Baljit Kour in her address said that Dr. Monojit has enrichef the literature of J&K in a big way with his satirical style. S. Kanwal Kashmiree in his address said that the poet tries to express his ideas in a very precise manner in the form of poetry, embraced with symbols, imagery and other tools of craftsman ship of poetry.
S. Harjit Singh Uppal, President, Punjabi Sahitak Sabha, R S Pura and S. Ratan Singh Kanwal, well known fiction writer from Kashmir also expressed their views on the released book on this occasion.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Dr. Simranjit Singh. The programme ended with vote of thanks by Jang S. Verman, Press Secretary, Punjabi Lekhak Sabha, Jammu.
