Jammu, June 23: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K Executive Member Raman Suri on Friday hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for creating a world record by leading people from across 135 nations in performing yoga on International Yoga Day 2023 at the United Nations (UN) Headquarters in New York.
“This is a remarkable achievement wherein yoga has been taken to a new height. By making the world leaders, artists, politicians, bureaucrats, and entrepreneurs perform yoga at the UN, Modi has shown the world the way of life,” he said in a statement.
Suri lauded the words of Prime Minister who said that yoga is free from copyright and patents. He congratulated the PM and India’s permanent representative to the UN, Ruchira Kamboj, for receiving the Guinness record for ‘most nationalities in one yoga session’, saying it is a matter of pride for India to lead such a great yoga session wherein a world record has been created.
The BJP leader said the PM’s efforts have generated desired results in making yoga truly universal. “His meeting with children after the yoga session is going to leave an everlasting impression on their hearts and minds. Yoga is already an accepted practice in the West but this latest development has taken it to new heights. From this day onwards, more and more people are likely to adopt yoga as a way of life and stay fit both physically and mentally,” he said.
Raman Suri said it was the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that yoga must be adopted by everyone to stay healthy and now that this dream is coming true, it is a remarkable achievement. “In 2015, International Yoga Day was announced from the United Nations General Assembly podium as proposed by Narendra Modi and has now become the UN-mandated occasion. This is a matter of pride for every Indian,” he said.
Ever since International Yoga Day has been announced, people can be seen celebrating the occasion on mountains, planes, beaches, important institutions, offices, and even historic and religious places, Suri said and urged the people, especially youth to “adopt yoga as a way of life which calms the mind and acts as prevention of many diseases”.
