Srinagar, Mar 01: Prime Minister NarendraModi is slated to visit the Kashmir Valley on March 7, marking his first visit since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019. This visit follows his last trip to Kashmir in February 2019.
The venue for the Prime Minister’s rally has been shifted from SKICC to Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar. Sources indicate that Bakshi Stadium has been chosen due to its larger seating capacity, accommodating approximately 50-55 thousand people, making crowd management more feasible with multiple entry and exit points.
A senior police officer informed Rising Kashmir that comprehensive security measures, including a triple-layer security grid, will be implemented around the venue to ensure the smooth execution of the event. Plans for the rally will be discussed in a high-level meeting of police and sister agencies in Srinagar.
Party sources reveal that this rally will mark the commencement of election campaigning for the party in Jammu and Kashmir for 2024. Preparations are underway, with attendees expected from all corners of Kashmir.
During his visit, Prime Minister Modi is anticipated to announce various developmental projects and interact with beneficiaries of national schemes and programs in the Valley. This visit coincides with a period where separatist-called bandhs and strikes have significantly decreased, and incidents like stone pelting have ceased following the abrogation of Article 370. The region has witnessed normalcy in educational institutions, a surge in tourism, and business operations, leading to a peaceful environment.
Sources within the BJP disclosed plans for a meeting where district presidents will be directed to ensure the success of the mega event. Workers from Pirpanjal and Chenab Valley are also expected to participate.
Earlier, PM Modi visited Jammu on February 20, where he inaugurated and laid the foundation for developmental projects worth Rs 32,000 crores, including the extension of railway services and the inauguration of AIIMS in Vijaypur. During his visit, he addressed a large public gathering and interacted with beneficiaries of national flagship programs, expressing satisfaction with the progress made in the region and commending the efforts of L-G Manoj Sinha in ensuring the benefits of national developmental programs reach the common man.
