Gurdaspur, May 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday lashed out at Congress for “delaying justice” to the victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and accused the party of providing “shelter” to the 1984 riots accused adding that it was ‘Modi’ who ensured punishment for the accused.
Addressing a public rally in Gurdaspur, PM Modi said that he is here to seek blessings to make sure that he lives up to expectations of the voters in his third term.
“I have come to seek your blessings to make sure that I live up to your expectations in my third term and ensure the development of Gurdaspur, Punjab and the country,” the Prime Minister said.
He further said that Punjab knows the true faces of the INDIA bloc adding that the most number of wounds suffered by Punjab have been given by this INDI alliance.
“Who knows the real faces of INDI alliance more than Punjab? Punjab has suffered the most at the hands of this INDI alliance. The most number of wounds suffered by Punjab has been given by this INDI alliance. Partition, instability, militancy, attacking the brotherhood of Punjab, and attack on its faith. They gave wind to separatism in Punjab and caused a genocide of Sikhs in Delhi. Till the Congress was in the central government, it gave shelter to the rioters. It is Modi who reopened the 1984 case files. It is Modi who ensured punishment for the accused,” he said.
The Prime Minister launched an attack on Punjab Chief Minsiter Bhagwant Mann and said that ‘Durbaris’ of Delhi are governing Punjab adding that the Punjab CM cannot make a single decision on his own.
“Unfortunately, Punjab is being governed via remote control. The Durbaris of Delhi are governing Punjab. The CM of Punjab cannot make a single decision on his own… The CM had to go to Tihar Jail to take new orders to run his government… After 1st June, the corrupt will go to jail again. Will the Punjab government function from the jail again?” he said.
The Prime Minister further asserted that the Lok Sabha polls 2024, is the election to give leadership to the country.
“The election of 2024 is the election to give leadership to the country. On one side, there is the BJP and NDA with a clear vision for Viksit Bharat, a resolve for Nation First, a track record of 10 years, strict action on corruption. On the other side in the INDI alliance, is staunchly communal, casteist, familyist. The people of Congress and Jhadu (referring to AAP), these people of INDI alliance, I don’t know what they think about the people of this country. Every now and then, they play games to fool the people. In Delhi, they are pretending to be friends, shielding the corrupts and in Punjab, they are abusing each other,” PM Modi said.
PM Modi also praised former Punjab Chief Minister and now Senior BJP leader Captain Amarinder Singh.
“When Congress was in power in Punjab, Congress wanted to run the government of Punjab through remote control. But Captain Amarinder Singh refused to obey the orders of the ‘Shehzada’ of Delhi (Rahul Gandhi). He gave priority to national security being a border state. The result was that the royal family of Congress and the ‘Shehzada’ removed him from the post of Chief Minister. Can anyone ever forget this insult to Punjab?,” he said.
The Prime Minister said that be it national defence, protection of faith and culture, or development of the country, Punjab and the Sikh community have always worked ahead.
“Saugandh mujhe is mitti ki, mai desh mitne nahi dunga. Mai desh nahi jhukne dunga, mai desh nahi rukne dunga,” he added.
In Punjab, voting for its 13 seats will take place in a single phase, with the seventh and final phase on June 1 seeing voting in Gurudaspur, Amritsar, Khadoor Sahib, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Nandpur Sahib, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Faridkot, Firozpur, Bathinda, Sangrur, and Patiala constituencies.
