The PM e-Vidya initiative in the schools of the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory is gaining popularity as students are attending their classes through DTH channels and live streaming on YouTube channels.
According to an official from the Jammu and Kashmir State Council of Educational and Research (JK-SCERT), PM e-Vidya is a comprehensive initiative under the Department of School Education, Government of India. It was introduced as part of AtmaNirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan on May 17, 2020, to unify all digital/online/on-air education efforts. PM e-Vidya aims to provide multi-modal access to education and benefit over 250 million school-going children across the country.
“The Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory has been allocated five channels, known as JK PM-e-Vidya DTH Channels numbered from 36 to 40, under PM e-Vidya, a National Initiative,” official said.
He further mentioned that all the channels can be accessed on DD Free Dish from 410 to 414. Jammu and Kashmir have separate free education channels for classes 1 to 12 . JK PM e-Vidya DTH Channel 36 is dedicated to grades 1 to 8, JK PM e-Vidya DTH Channel 37 is for grade 9, JK PM e-Vidya DTH Channel 38 is for grade 10, JK PM e-Vidya DTH Channel 39 is for grade 11, and JK PM e-Vidya DTH Channel is dedicated to grade 12.
“All five channels are available for 24×7 telecast. Students can watch them according to their convenience,” official explained.
He also mentioned that all these channels for all classes can be streamed on YouTube channels, allowing students to watch them on YouTube as well.
“JK-SCERT will also provide classes in Kashmiri, Dogri, and Urdu languages. We are preparing study material to help students better understand their classes in their native languages,” he added.
Adding to that, the students should take advantage of these platforms, through which they can receive a better quality of education and also get proper benefits.
