Srinagar, July 16: Senior vice president J&K Peoples Conference and former minister Abdul Gani Vakil on Sunday said that Peoples Conference is committed to creating spaces for the youth to take the mantle of responsibility to become partners in the decision-making process and shape a brighter future for the coming generations. He was addressing a Youth Convention of the People’s Conference at Sopore, which was presided over by YJKPC President Sopore Junaid Parveez.
While addressing the gathering, Vakil said that active and meaningful participation of the youth is imperative to address the challenges that have an impact on them and their future. He said J&K politics needs new ideas and energy, and the need of the hour is for the youth of J&K to stand with the Peoples Conference and its president Sajad Gani Lone and help him realise his “grand vision for the progress of the state and protecting the rights and dignity of its people”.
Criticizing the current “bureaucratic regime” in Jammu & Kashmir, he said, “The LG regime promised to provide employment to thousands of unemployed youth, but those claims have remained headlines in newspapers, and nothing concrete has been done for the youth. It is not in the interest of the country or Jammu and Kashmir to renege on the promises made to the youth. The Central government must come up with a concrete job policy for the unemployed youth so that they don’t suffer anymore.”
He added, “The LG admin is very active on Twitter and other social media sites, but on the ground, it has lost both moral and constitutional rights to continue. The Government of India must end the prevalent Bureaucratic Raj and conduct elections in J&K to allow the people of J&K to elect their representatives without any delay. How long will a state or union territory be handed over to a chosen bureaucratic setup? Will this type of autocracy be allowed in other states like Gujarat, UP, or elsewhere?”
Besides others who addressed the gathering include senior leader and JKPC coordinator Baramulla Bashir Ahmad Malla, Incharge Sopore constituency Fayaz Ahmad Naikoo, senior leaders of JKPC Sopore Ghulam Nabi Vijbali, Mohammad Muzaffar Naikoo, YJKPC president Sopore Junaid Parveez, YJKPC leaders Waseem Bashir Beigh, Saleem Mushtaq, Waseem Ahmad Dar, Nisar Ah Bhat, Akthar Rasool, Lateef Ahmad Changa and Danish Seroo.
