Baramulla, Nov 12: Chairman of Democratic Azad Party (DAP) GhulamNabi Azad Saturday said that residents living in border areas have a greater responsibility to protect its own people, state and the nation.
Azad was addressing a public rally in north Kashmir’s Uri sub division here.
“We can demand our rights within our constitution, within our own country. We can fight for our rights. But we cannot be rebels. Neither does our religion allow rebellion. The people of border states have a greater responsibility for safeguarding the interests of the nation,” Azad said.
He said that unemployment is one of the main reasons for rising drug abuse and picking up of arms by the youth in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
He reiterated that by providing employment to the youth, social evils like drug abuse and picking up of arms can be eradicated from the society.
While addressing the gathering, Azad said that the political parties must stop befooling the people by fake promises.
“We lost statehood, Article 370, Article 35A. If we can get these back, that is enough. Fake promises made by the political parties from the last 75 years have made the lives of our people miserable,” he further added.
