Kulgam, Jul 25:In anamazing display of athleticism and camaraderie, the Pencak Silat Championship on Tuesday came to a thrilling end in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district. With over three hundred skilled players hailing from various corners of the district taking part in this championship.
The championship’s closing ceremony was held at the Government Model Higher Secondary School in Kulgam.
Earlier, the opening ceremony was attended by Showkat Hussain, the Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC), Kulgam who was the chief guest as well. The ADDC inaugurated the championship, setting the stage for a remarkable display of prowess and skill.
An official told Rising Kashmir that around 300 players coming from different corners of the district participated in the championship. The participants were from diverse age groups, including the junior, senior, and preteen categories.
On Tuesday, President Municipal Council Kulgam, Muneeb Ahmed Zargar, graced the closing ceremony with his presence.
He said, the triumphant players were presented with awards and received a lot of warm embrace from the guests.
“It is a testament to the commitment of players who want to have a fostering talent, we must encourage the winners and players like these are inspiring others to take sports and soar higher in the athletic journeys,” Zarger said.
Zarger emphasized the need to foster grassroots sports and kindle the passion for athletics among young talents. With unwavering resolve, he pledged wholehearted support from the local administration to foster an environment conducive to sporting excellence.
The championship was a collaborative effort by the Pencak Silat Association Jammu and Kashmir, in collaboration with the Youth Services and Sports Kulgam and District Pencak Silat Association Kulgam.
Muhammad Akbar, the Secretary of the Pencak Silat Association Kulgam, extended heartfelt thanks to all participants for their fervent engagement. He assured the winners of the championship that a well-equipped coaching camp awaits them, replete with the resources required to fine-tune their skills.
Mushtaq Ahmed Pampori and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Headquarters Kulgam, lauded the participants for their unwavering dedication and unyielding spirit. They encouraged them to continue their pursuit of greatness and set their sights on even greater achievements.
