Srinagar, Oct 3: Reiterating the prevalence of peaceful atmosphere in the Srinagar city, Inspector General Ajay Kumar Yadav of CRPF’s Srinagar Sector on Tuesday reaffirmed the presence of peaceful environment in Srinagar district, emphasizing that there was no terror activity reported in the city.
IG CRPF was addressing the media persons during the flagging-off ceremony of women CRPF bikers, who embarked on a journey from Srinagar to Gujarat. The event, held at Lal Chowk Srinagar, was graced by the presence of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
IG CRPF highlighted the active involvement of female CRPF officers in a range of crucial roles, including counter-insurgency operations, airport security, road opening parties (RoPs), prison security, and other sensitive missions.
Regarding the presence of terrorism in Srinagar, the IG CRPF pointed to a significant flagging-off event that occurred in the heart of Srinagar. This event, he noted, serves as a testament to the peaceful environment within the district, making it challenging to find a more serene atmosphere elsewhere.
About the possibility and opportunities of Kashmiri women joining CRPF, the IG CRPF extended a warm welcome, confirming that Kashmiri women are encouraged to join the force in any capacity they choose.
Regarding the bike rally, he commended it as a symbol of women’s resilience, sending a powerful message that women can achieve their aspirations. He viewed it as a significant embodiment of women’s empowerment.
As part of the CRPF Women Bike Expedition, which is set to cover approximately 10,000 kilometers across India, three teams are to be flagged off from Srinagar, Shillong, and Kanya Kumari.
The expedition, led by the indomitable “Yashaswini” women bikers, carries the National Flag and the CRPF Flag, symbolizing the force’s commitment to the nation with the message “Desh Ke Hum Hain Rakshak.”
They will interact with girl students, women self-help groups, Anganwadi workers, NCC cadets, and other women entrepreneurs, spreading the message of inclusiveness and unity.
Before the flag-off, the Valley QAT commandos showcased their exemplary Krav Maga skills and weapon expertise, while the Mahila pipe band delivered an enthralling performance. Mathew A. John, DIG, expressed his gratitude with a heartfelt vote of thanks.
The Bike Rally, held under the aegis of Srinagar Sector, CRPF, saw 50 Mahila troopers of CRPF on 25 bikes being flagged off. They will travel through 40 districts, covering a distance of 2,134 kilometers, ultimately reaching the birthplace of Iron Man Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat, on 31st October 2023.
