Srinagar, Sept 08: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader Arif Laigroo, who is contesting from the Habba Kadal assembly constituency, highlighted pressing local issues during his door-to-door campaign in Chattabal and Jamalatta on Sunday.
Laigroo raised concerns about the challenges faced by families whose loved ones are imprisoned outside Kashmir, calling on the administration to bring these cases back to the region for fair trials. He highlighted the emotional and logistical strain on families trying to reach out to their relatives and advocated for a more humane approach. “This issue is deeply personal to many in the region and touches upon broader concerns of justice and peace,” he said.
During his campaign, Arif said the local population is frustrated over rising electricity bills. This is a burden for many middle-class and lower-income families, he said and assured the people that, if elected, his government would work to reduce these costs and ease the financial strain.
Responding to complaints about the poor condition of roads and lanes, a long-standing concern in the area, Laigroo promised that road and lane maintenance would be a top priority once in office. He pledged to make the vision of a “shining Habba-Kadal” a reality by focusing on improving local infrastructure and ensuring the well-being of the residents.
