Ganderbal, Aug 26: PDP Candidate for the Kangan Constituency, Syed Jamat Ali Shah was warmly received by the party workers at the party office, Kangan on Sunday. Hundreds of people including prominent Sarpanch of Chanthan Gulabpora, Farooq Qureshi also joined the party. Prominent leader of PDP from Kangan, Bashir Ahmad Mir welcomed the new entrants into the party’s fold.
Speaking later in a press briefing, Jamat Ali Shah said that he would work for the empowerment of the public, not just development. “I believe it is more important to teach the technique of catching the fish rather than providing the fish. Empowerment has wider connotation than development”, Shah said. Further, Jamat Ali Shah also talked about the issues related to unemployment of the youth, matters of skillset, opportunities of jobs, both skilled and unskilled, in Government and private sector. He also discussed that the recruitment agencies of the UT Government should not only be fair but should appear to be fair and unbiased. The perception of the public should change about the recruitment agencies, be it Public Service Commission or Service Selection Board. He also mooted the idea of ‘uniquely incentivising’ the unemployed and underemployed youth. “The state budget can be rationalised through a cut in lavish expenditure on the administrative machinery and also can be done by channelising the other modes of financing, like through impactful CSR funding. Particularly the youth who have neither been part of Govt recruitment nor can start their self-entrepreneurship, can be compensated through such incentivised custom tailored basic income schemes”, he said. Shah thanked the people of Kangan for giving him the mandate to contest the election and bring the change on the ground.
