Srinagar July 23: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) General Secretary Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura on Tuesday said the party will do “every possible thing” to serve the aspirations of the people of Jammu & Kashmir.
“We are committed to raising the voice of people vociferously. The party will not let down our people,” Lone said while addressing the party meeting organised by PDP Habba Kadal constituency in-charge Arif Laigroo.
Former MLA Anjum Fazli, Ab Hameed Kohsheen, District President Ab Qayoom Bhat, Addl Spokesperson Ab Rauf Bhat, Mohit Bhan, M Altaf Ah, Bilal Ahmed, Fayaz Reshi, Mohd Shafi Kundangar attended the meeting, a party statement issued here said.
Hanjura expressed gratitude to the party workers at the grassroots level who have stood firm with the party and its struggle despite the pressures. “The workers are the real strength of the party and PDP shall stand firm to represent their aspirations,” he said.
During the meeting, he asked the workers to make preparations for PDP foundation day, which will be held on July 31 at Sheri Kashmir Park, Srinagar.
On the occasion, he said, “Most of the people in Habba Kadal are hand-to-mouth earners. The situation in the area is so dire that the installation of smart meters will add further to the miseries of people in Habba Kadal. Most of the households would either have no electricity or no food to eat.”
He urged the LG-led administration to reconsider its move of installing smart electricity meters and provide relief to people.
Addressing the gathering, Arif Laigaroo urged the people to come forward to strengthen the party and organise campaigns against social evils including drug abuse in society. He urged them to keep tabs on youth in their respective area and work for the betterment of society.
