Srinagar, Aug 13: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed serious concern over the rising drug menace that is plaguing Kashmiri society, particularly among the youth.
PDP Spokesperson, Tahir Syeed in a statement expressed deep alarm at the rising number of drug-related incidents across Jammu and Kashmir. “The spread of drug addiction in our region has reached alarming levels. It is devastating to witness how our young generation is falling prey to this scourge, which is tearing apart families, ruining lives and destabilising our communities,” he said.
Syeed said the PDP strongly believes that the fight against this menace requires a comprehensive and coordinated approach. He emphasised the importance of community involvement in addressing this crisis.
“We must all come together—parents, educators, religious leaders, and civil society—to raise awareness about the dangers of drug addiction. Our youth need guidance, support, and alternatives to ensure they do not fall into the clutches of this deadly vice,” the spokesperson said. “As a party, we are committed to the well-being of our people and will continue to push for policies and initiatives that protect our youth from this growing threat.”
Syeed added, “Immediate and collective action is needed to stem the tide of this crisis before it further devastates our society. Together, we can work towards a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir.”
