Srinagar, Feb 14: A Power Development Department (PDD) Inspector died of electric shock in the Parimpora area of Srinagar while repairing an electric wire on Wednesday.
According to reports, the incident occurred today as the PDD Inspector was working in the area.
The deceased has been identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad from Chattabal, Srinagar.
Officials stated immediately after the incident, the unconscious Inspector was rushed to SMHS. However, the on-duty doctor declared him dead en route to the hospital.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident, and further investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, locals in the area are demanding a probe into the incident, questioning why the transmission line was not disconnected during the repair work.
The tragic incident adds to a grim statistic, revealing that over the past decade, more than 100 regularized and temporary employees of the Power Development Department (PDD) have lost their lives due to electrocution in Kashmir.
