Jammu, Nov 07: Seeking personal intervention of DGP J&K Police, R.R Swain to curb drug peddling in J&K, the Apni Party’s Provincial President, Women Wing, Jammu, Pavneet Kour has demanded stringent action against the drug peddlers to eradicate the menace from the society.
Pavneet was speaking at a meeting that was organized at Hakkal Panchayat Ward No – 4 in Raipur, Satwari. She raised the issue of drug addiction and drug peddling due to which the people are worried about the future generation.
In her speech, she appealed to the Director General of Police (DGP) J&K Police to take a serious note of the drug addiction and suitable action in this regard needs to be taken.
She suggested that commercial as well as residential houses should install CCTVs that can help the police or other investigative agencies to identify the drug peddlers so that they can be handled as per the law.
Meanwhile, she said, “The drug addiction and peddling have increased in the peripheral areas as well and it has worried the members of the society. Many families have lost their loved ones due to drug addiction and it has also given rise to criminal activities which need to be curbed with collective efforts of the society and the police.”
She said that the role of women is important regarding the menace of drug addiction. “The women should come forward and educate the younger generation about the harms of drug addiction, and accordingly, the members of civil society can coordinate with the police to motivate youth to come out of drug addiction in rehabilitation centres,” she further added.
