Udhampur, Apr 30: Former MLA from Ramnagar and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Ranbir Singh Pathania on Tuesday reaffirmed Jammu & Kashmir’s unwavering commitment to combatting terrorism.
Addressing a press conference, Pathania paid tribute to the brave Village Defence Guard (VDG) member who lost his life protecting the community and demanded justice for his family. He called for an ex-gratia relief of Rs 20 lakh and a permanent government job for the bereaved next of kin, emphasising the need to support them during this difficult time.
He denounced divisive forces attempting to disrupt peace and lauded the government’s efforts in countering terrorism, corruption, and separatism, highlighting the positive transformation witnessed in Jammu & Kashmir.
The BJP spokesperson emphasised the crucial role of Village Defence Guards in maintaining security. He advocated for enhanced training, modern equipment, robust surveillance systems, and fair remuneration for VDG members. Pathania stressed the importance of promptly returning civilian-owned weapons deposited with authorities to bolster community defence.
Ranbir along with other leaders urged for swift resolution of pending gun license cases, upholding the right to self-defense within legal boundaries.
