Udhampur, Aug 15: The 78th Independence Day celebration at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office in Udhampur was marked by a vibrant and patriotic atmosphere. The flag was hoisted by Surendra Singh Khalsa, Parbhari of Udhampur East Vidhan Sabha.
Ranbir Singh Pathania, the BJP spokesperson, addressed the gathering and emphasised the need to combat fundamentalism and divisive forces. He reminded the attendees of the historical context leading up to August 15, 1947, highlighting the dangers of fundamentalist zeal and bigotry during that era.
Pathania in a statement expressed concern over the persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh, where they have faced severe torture and the desecration of religious sites. He called for a firm stand against fundamentalism, bigotry and terrorism, advocating for the protection of religious freedom, tolerance and mutual respect on a global scale.
Other prominent figures present at the event included Rakesh Sharma, Mandal President of Jaganoo, Samar Singh, BLA, Pankaj Gupta, Jivan Sharma (District General Secretary), Swaran Singh (District Vice President), Raju Bucha, Ashok Padha, Rakesh Gupta, Aryan Jamwal, Rahul Goswamy, and RP Singh, all of whom also addressed the gathering.
