Jammu, Feb 01: Panun Kashmir organised a heartfelt condolence meeting to pay tribute to Dr. Suresh Raina, a distinguished surgical oncologist and a dedicated advocate for Kashmiri Hindu rights, who passed away recently in the United States. Dr. Raina, a patron of Panun Kashmir, was deeply committed to the cause of Kashmiri Hindus, and his passing is being mourned as an irreparable loss to both the medical community and the exiled population.
Beyond his remarkable professional accomplishments, Dr. Raina played an instrumental role in medical welfare initiatives for displaced Kashmiri Pandits in Jammu. His deep sense of responsibility was evident in his efforts to provide healthcare services to the exiled community, ensuring that those forced into exile received medical attention and dignity despite the immense challenges they faced. His contribution to the medical and social welfare of the community remains a testament to his enduring commitment to Kashmiri Hindus.
Attendees also fondly remembered Dr. Raina’s significant participation in the World Kashmiri Pandit Conference held in 1993 at Siri Fort Auditorium in New Delhi, which was organized by Panun Kashmir. His presence at this historic event was a powerful statement of solidarity with the displaced community, reinforcing his firm belief in their rightful struggle for justice and recognition.
In his tribute, Dr. Ajay Chrungoo, Chairman of Panun Kashmir, stated, “Dr. Suresh Raina was not just an eminent medical professional; he was a resolute defender of truth, justice, and the dignity of his people. He recognized that the struggle of Kashmiri Hindus was not merely about reclaiming lost homes but about resisting an existential onslaught against an entire civilization. His voice was never diluted by political correctness or appeasement. His absence is a loss, but his legacy will continue to inspire our movement. Panun Kashmir salutes his indomitable spirit and reaffirms its commitment to carrying forward the cause he so passionately championed.”
Panun Kashmir also emphasised that while Dr. Raina’s passing represents a significant loss, his legacy as both a healer and a warrior for truth will continue to guide the community’s ongoing struggle for justice, recognition, and rehabilitation. Dr. Raina’s voice may have fallen silent, but his impact remains a powerful force, inspiring those who continue the fight for the cause he so deeply believed in.
