Srinagar, Apr 14: Former parliamentarian and People’s Democratic Party senior leader Dr Mehboob Beg on Sunday expressed disappointment over the failure of the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) to effectively address the grievances of the people against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
He highlighted a range of issues, including the “abrogation of special constitutional provisions, rising unemployment, land acquisition, NIA raids, job dismissals, smart meter installation, ration stoppages, home demolitions, and the enrollment of non-state subjects as voters”.
Beg lamented that despite these challenges, the PAGD did not provide a platform for people to express their anger towards the BJP.
He emphasized the importance of a united fight against the BJP’s policies, particularly in the context of the upcoming parliamentary elections. He criticised the unilateral decision of the PAGD president to announce party candidates without consulting other alliance members, which he viewed as arrogant and against the interests of the people.
Beg urged voters to support candidates who can effectively advocate for their rights in Parliament. He specifically endorsed the PDP candidates, emphasising their ability to represent the concerns of the people fearlessly.
