Kishtwar, Mar 26:The P F Commissioner, Rizwan Uddin on Sunday visited the Kiru Hydro Power Project, currently being executed by Chenab Valley Power Project. In response to grievances received from workers’ representatives, the Commissioner felt it necessary to make a visit to the project site.

During his visit, Commissioner Uddin met with workers at the Project’s Dam site, accompanied by Bipin Kumar, Enforcement Officer, and Chandra Prakash, Sr Supervisor representing the Labour Department. The visit came after several workers complained of being deprived of social security benefits by several contractors, including M/s Om Prakash, M/s Raj Kumar, M/s Sanjay Parihar, M/s Raj Tour and Travels, and M/s Mohan, who were engaged by the major contractor M/s Patel Engineering.
The Commissioner and his team spoke with workers until 8 PM and took their details, including Aadhar numbers and phone numbers. The details will be verified from official records, and Chenab Valley Power Project Limited (CVPPL) will be advised to set right any irregularities promptly.
Meanwhile, a public hearing called “Nidhi AapkeNikat” is scheduled to take place tomorrow at the DC Office from 10.30 AM and at the Executive Training Hall, Dulhasti Power Station. This hearing will give the public an opportunity to voice their concerns and grievances to the Commissioner and his team.

The visit by the P F Commissioner has brought to light the issue of worker exploitation and the failure of major contractors to ensure the allotment of Universal Account Numbers (UANs) to employees engaged by their contractors. The public hearing tomorrow will be an opportunity for the Commissioner to further address these issues and take necessary action to ensure that workers receive their rightful benefits.
