Jammu, Mar 17: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K President Ravinder Raina on Sunday said more than 40 castes have benefitted under the Other Backward Class (OBC) quota provided by the Modi Government.
Lohar, Nai, Teli, Hajam, Markban, Zargar, Jaat and WPRs have been given the benefits under OBCs following the policy of ‘Sabka, Sath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas’, Raina said while addressing a press conference at party headquarters, Trikuta Nagar here.
He said Gujjar, Bakerwal and OBCs received justice under the Modi government. “The BJP gave rights to the Pahari community, while it kept the rights of Gujjar, Bakerwal, Gaddi-Sippy Sheena communities intact,” he said.
The J&K BJP chief thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving rights to the Paharis and fulfiling the long-pending demand of the community, keeping intact the 10% reservation rights of the Gujjar, Bakerwal, Gaddi-Sippy Sheena community.
Raina said earlier governments led by the National Conference, Congress, and People’s Democratic Party did “criminal injustice” with these communities for 70 years and brought the black law of inter-district recruitment, putting the future of children of Gujjar-Bakerwal into the darkness.
“It is the BJP, which raised the voice on inter-district recruitment rule, vehicles for transportation of animals, gave political representation in DDC, BDC, and is always on the forefront to resolve the issues faced by these communities,” he said.
The LG administration of Jammu & Kashmir also ensured that the earlier quota to the communities is kept intact, he said, adding, “Several political personalities for their vested interests tried to misguide people on the issue, although it was made absolutely clear that the quota provided to Paharis would be separate from the earlier existing quota to STs.”
Ravinder Raina said the BJP OBC Morcha has been serving the people of J&K, raising the voice loudly for the neglected and those who were deprived of their rights for decades by the previous governments.
He said the people of J&K have approved the policies of the Modi government to promote peace and progress in the UT. “The people are waiting to vote and elect Modi as Prime Minister for the 3rd term,” he said.
Er Ghulam Ali Khatana, MP (Rajya Sabha), Er Abdul Ghani Kohli, former minister, and others were also present on the occasion.
