Srinagar, Jan. 31: More than three people received free consultations and medicines on Tuesday at a free medical and drug de-addiction camp organised by Handwara police at Middle School Qalamabad, Mawer in Handwara.
The camp began on Tuesday morning, when specialists from District Hospital Handwara were giving free consultations to people of the area. Free medicines were given to people who were consulted by the doctors in the daylong free medical camp.
According to an official at the free medical camp, Handwara police organised a free medical camp at Qalamabad on the directions of a senior official to provide medical assistance to people in the surrounding area. He stated that 300 patients, including men, women, and children, received free medicines at the camp.
He stated that earlier this week, Handwara police also organised a free medical camp in the Villgam area, where hundreds of people from the locality participated and were given free medication at the camp. Senior specialists were made available during the medical camp for patients.
The people of the area have expressed their gratitude to Handwara police for organising a free medical camp amid heavy snowfall for the underprivileged. Being in a far area, they have hoped that, in the coming time, the police should organise such camps in other far areas to reach the border people.
SHO, Qalamabad, Inspector John Mohammad told Rising Kashmir that 300 people had availed medical facilities during the camp organised by the Handwara police at the middle school in Qalamabad.
He said the main focus of the medical camp was drug de-addiction, and awareness of the drugs was also given to the youth during the camp. Young people were briefed about the evils of drugs, and parents were urged to keep a strict vigil on their children to keep them safe from the drugs.
