Over 2 lakh J&K students participate in ‘State Educational Achievement Survey’

Srinagar, Nov 05: NCERT, New Delhi, under the aegis of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, conducted the State Educational Achievement Survey (SEAS) 2023 in collaboration with SCERT for classes 3rd, 6th, and 9th across the country, including Jammu and Kashmir on November 3.
A total of 233,457 students from 9,474 schools in Jammu and Kashmir have participated in this survey.
 The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) in Jammu and Kashmir has conducted the SEAS 2023 in the entire union territory of Jammu and Kashmir on November 3, to assess the learning levels of children in Grades III, VI, and IX.
 In the Kashmir division, a total of 113,535 students from 4,634 from classes 3rd, 6th, and 9th have participated in the State Educational Achievement Survey (SEAS) 2023 across the Kashmir valley.
 In class 3, a total of 36,427 students from 1,779 schools have participated in the SEAS 2023. In the 6th grade, 36,984 students from 1,529 schools have participated, and in the 9th grade, 40,124 students from 1,326 schools have participated.
 In the Jammu division, a total of 119,922 students from 4,840 schools have participated across the Jammu region in the SEAS 2023.
 In the class 3rd, a total number of 41,142 from 1929 students have participated in the SEAS 2023, In the 6th grade, 37,476 students from 1,537 schools have participated, and in the 9th grade, 41,304 students from 1,374 schools have participated in this survey.
The SEAS has been conducted by the Performance Assessment, Review, and Analysis of Knowledge for Holistic Development (PARAKH) at NCERT. The survey was conducted to assess learning competencies at the end of the foundational, preparatory, and middle stages of education.
 Its purpose is to identify areas that require improvement in learning and will serve as a precursor to the Education Ministry’s annual National Achievement Survey (NAS) conducted at the district level.
 An official from the SCERT-JK told Rising Kashmir that the State Educational Achievement Survey (SEAS) 2023 has been conducted for the students of the 3rd, 6th, and 9th classes across India as well as in Jammu and Kashmir.
 “The SEAS 2023 has been conducted in a smooth way in the entire union territory. Ranjeet Singh Manhas, Gh Hassan Reshi, Nazneen Mehraj, and Depak Sharma were coordinators of the SEAS 2023 at the SCERT-JK,” an official said.
