Jammu, Dec 09: In a distinguished ceremony, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha addressed the 11th Foundation Day of Shri Kailakh Jyotish and Vedic Sansthan Trust.
The event, graced by the presence of Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Shri Adhokshajanand Devtirth Ji Maharaj, witnessed accolades for the Trust’s dedication to promoting Sanskrit and its commitment to altruistic service.
Lt. Governor Sinha congratulated the Trustees, President, and all members of the trust for their relentless efforts. He highlighted Sanskrit as a priceless cultural heritage, gaining admiration globally, and emphasised its significance in diverse fields such as Science, Medicine, Botany, and Literature.
Encouraging collective efforts, Lt. Governor Sinha urged stakeholders to pass on the knowledge of Sanskrit, one of the world’s oldest living languages, to the younger generation. He envisioned an interdisciplinary approach and extensive Sanskrit work contributing to the knowledge economy and fostering societal well-being.
During the Foundation Day, Lt. Governor Sinha shared key initiatives by the UT Administration to promote Sanskrit and value-based education in Jammu and Kashmir. Notably, vacant positions for Hindi, Sanskrit, and Indian Philosophy in UT universities have been filled, with Indian Philosophy now part of the curriculum, reflecting the commitment to uphold cultural and linguistic traditions.
International mountaineer Col. Ranbir Singh Jamwal and renowned Surgeon Dr. Sanjay Sharma were felicitated for their significant contributions. Students from Chudamani Sanskrit Sansthan, Basohli, presented the Vedic Manglacharan.
The event witnessed the presence of Prof. B. N. Tripathi, Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu; Sham Lal Sharma, former Minister; and Mahant Rohit Shastri, President of Kailakh Jyotish and Vedic Sansthan Trust.
‘Vocal for Local’ initiative holds potential for J&K’s growth: LG
Lauding the LEAD initiative’s professional team for their dedication to the sustainable development of the Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh, . Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha urged young entrepreneurs to seize new opportunities and contribute to the global market.
The Lieutenant Governor was addressing the ‘Mahotsav 2023’ organized by Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir Economic Growth and Development Dialogue (LEAD) at Gulshan Ground today.
In his speech, Singh highlighted the growth potential across various sectors in Jammu Kashmir and emphasised the importance of upgrading business and marketing skills, aligning with the “Vocal for Local” initiative guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“The Vocal for Local initiative is full of dynamism and potential to put J&K on a higher growth path,” stated the Lt. Governor, reaffirming the J&K Administration’s commitment to promoting an entrepreneurial and startup culture in the UT.
He highlighted flagship programs such as ‘One District One Product’ and ‘District Export Hub,’ providing opportunities for artisans and agro-based industries to tap into global demand and strengthen the unique identity of local crafts.
During the Mahotsav, the Lt. Governor honored VeerNaris, family members of martyrs of the Security Forces, and ex-servicemen. He visited stalls set up by government departments, SKUAST Jammu, Institute of Music and Fine Arts (JU), the Army, entrepreneurs, Farmer Producers Organizations, Cooperatives, and Self-Help Groups.
Major General Gaurav Gautam, GOC Tiger Division; Sunil Shah, Director LEAD; Lt Gen RK Sharma (Retd.), Maj Gen SK Sharma (Retd.), Brig Balbir Singh (Retd.), Col BS Mangotra (Retd.), ex-servicemen, Veer Naris, youth, and a large audience were present at the event.
