Budgam, Sep 25: Prominent politician Zaffer Mir (Lasjan) on Monday welcomed Sarpanch from SK Bagh (Sutsu-Kutru Bagh) along with the entire Panchayat team who officially joined him in a meeting to further bolster the public welfare and redressal of their grievances in the area.
This announcement was made during a crucial workers’ meeting convened at SK Bagh, where both male and female political activists associated with Zaffer Mir enthusiastically embraced this transformative shift.
Zaffer Mir warmly welcomed the Panchayat Raj team into his fold and assured them of unwavering support in addressing the pressing issues faced by the local populace. “The previous NC-led regimes and other governments have been responsible for huge corruption and they have always failed to deliver essential services to the people of Chadoora, Budgam while they enjoyed privileges for themselves, leaving people to suffer relentlessly,” he stated.
Highlighting a particularly poignant issue, Zaffer Mir shed light on the plight of SK Bagh and Kenihama residents, who sacrificed their fertile lands for the construction of railways.
Zaffer stated that to alleviate the woes endured by the area’s residents, change must begin at the grassroots. “With the blessings of Almighty and public support, I intend to field candidates in all Halkas of Chadoora, Budgam including various municipalities of the district. If we are elected to power, our priority will be to address the recurring flood issue, particularly affecting Kenihama and SK Bagh, in addition to neighbouring regions,” he said.
Drawing attention to a pressing concern for “exorbitant bills”, Zaffer Mir stressed that the local populace has been plagued by technical errors in electricity bills and they should not be held to bear the burden of these inaccuracies. “It is totally irrational to fathom how the government is demanding a fee from the locals when the irrigation canals have remained non-functional for two decades. Isn’t there any accountability for pushing people to the wall?” he expressed deep resentment.
Zaffer earnestly appealed to the Lt Governor-led administration to intervene with the concerned Irrigation & Flood Control Department, urging them to resolve the matter promptly and alleviate the anxiety gripping the locals. He also stated about organizing peaceful protests to demand resolution for electricity bill errors, meter discrepancies and irrigation issues.
Additionally, Zaffer Mir also emphasized the importance of a three-tier Panchayat system and urged his dedicated workers to gear up on a ward-wise basis, including the female reservation wards.
