JAMMU, May 07: The ‘Operation Trinetra’ launched jointly by the security forces to hunt down the terrorists in the Kandi forests of Rajouri continued for the third consecutive day today .
“So far, no fresh contact has been established with the terrorists today but our forces are on job and massive operation is going on in the dense forests to hunt down the terrorists,” PRO Defence, Lt Col Devendra Anand told Rising Kashmir.
Meanwhile, sources said that the overnight rains hampered security operations against militants inKandi’s lush forests.
However, security forces have intensified the search operation in the surrounding areas of Kandi forests, while all the exit routes have been plugged by the security forces to make sure that the terrorists do not manage to escape.
“Helicopters, drones and sniffer dogs are being used in the ongoing operation to hunt down the terrorists as security forces are on an all out mission to kill,” the PRO said.
The Army, in the last three days, had established contact with the terrorists twice. The Army first established contact with the terrorists with a group of terrorists on Friday.

As the forces moved forward, the terrorists triggered an explosive device in retaliation in which 2 Army jawans were martyred, while four others, including an officer, were injured. Three of the injured jawans later succumbed to their injuries.
The Army again re-established contact with the terrorists at 01:15 hrs Saturday on May 6th and when the forces zeroed in and moved ahead, the firing started.
At approximately 07:00 hrs, the forces spotted the terrorists and pinned them down”.
One terrorist was killed, while another was injured in the ensuing gun battle.
