Srinagar, Nov 15: Continuing a clampdown on cross border infiltration, security forces on Wednesday gunned down two unidentified terrorists in Uri foiling a major cross border infiltration attempt.
Officials revealed that the operation unfolded as a group of terrorists made attempts to cross the Line of Control (LoC) under the cover of low visibility and adverse weather conditions.
Officials reported that vigilant security forces detected the infiltrators and engaged them in a fierce encounter. Despite the challenging weather, the alert troops managed to neutralize two terrorists.
The operation initially led to the killing of one terrorist, with another being eliminated subsequently. Officials said that searches are underway in the area to ensure the complete eradication of any potential threat.
Pertinent to mention, this marks the second successful foiling of an infiltration attempt in recent weeks, as security forces had previously eliminated two terrorists in a similar incident last month.
Army stated that “In a joint operation named OP KALI, launched by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police, the infiltration bid was effectively foiled. The security forces not only eliminated the two terrorists but also recovered a huge cache of weapons, including two AK Rifles, two Pistols, four Hand Grenades, and other warlike stores.”
The Army’s statement affirmed the continuing operations in the area, emphasizing the commitment to maintaining the security and integrity of the region.
