Kishtwar, June 25: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference senior leader from Chenab Valley Zone, Ajeet Bhagat on Sunday expressed deep concern over the “plight” of people in Jammu and Kashmir, especially in the districts of Kishtwar, Doda and Ramban of Chenab Valley Zone, due to the “absence of adequate basic facilities”.
Apart from the power and water crisis, there is a sad situation among the youth due to the increasing problems of unemployment, Bhagat said in a statement issued here. “The problems were compounded due to wrong and anti-people policies of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government at the Centre,” he added.
Bhagat said, “The lives of people living in Kishtwar, Doda and Ramban districts of Chenab Valley zone are in turmoil as they are facing the worst crisis of water and electricity.” The NC leader said he has brought to the notice of former home minister and President of Chenab Valley Zone National Conference Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo, former MLA and Secretary of Chenab Valley Zone National Conference and Dr Chaman Lal that the youth in Chenab Valley are suffering from mental stress due to the “highest unemployment figures ever”. Besides, daily wage earners are forced to come to the streets, and there is a lack of medical facilities, he added.
The NC leader said the current administration has pushed the people of Jammu and Kashmir into the “darkest era” due to “misrule and anti-people policies”. “It is an irony that while youth are suffering due to unemployment, more than 60,000 sanctioned posts are lying vacant in various government departments of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said, adding, “Not only this, daily wage earners of Public Health Engineering (PHE) are fighting on the streets for their real rights thus affecting water supply but the administration is motionless and least bothered.”
Bhagat appealed to the people of Jammu and Kashmir to bring the National Conference to power in the upcoming assembly elections, saying NC is the “only secular party in Jammu and Kashmir which has the ability to solve the concerns and problems of the people”.
