Baramulla, May 02: One person died and several others were injured on Tuesday in a road accident that took place in the Rafiabad area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
A police official said that a vehicle carrying a group of boys, who were returning after playing a cricket match, plunged into a gorge near Chak Shutloo, resulting in the death of Kaiser Ahmed Dar, son of Gulzar Ahmed Dar, a resident of Jalsheeri Baramulla.
The injured were immediately taken to a nearby hospital where they were referred to Associated Hospital GMC Baramulla for advanced treatment.
Medical Superintendent AHGMC Baramulla, Dr Parvaiz Masoodi, told Rising Kashmir that six injured individuals were admitted to the hospital and are now in stable condition.
“One of the injured persons suffered a head injury while the other five had minor injuries. The hospital provided necessary medical attention and medication to the injured youth without any referrals required,” Dr Masoodi said.
The doctor said that one of the injured was discharged while the rest are under continuous observation.
Police have taken cognisance and are investigating the cause of the accident.
