On the theme of G-20, the Army’s 17th Brigade Nowgam on Thursday celebrated the 74th Republic Day with enthusiasm. The flag-raising ceremony was attended by many schools and local residents.
The flag at Nowgam Range was hoisted by the local PRI member in the presence of Army and civil officials. The programme was followed by different cultural events.
On the occasion, speakers shed light on the G20, which will be held in India for the first time, and its significance, which they referred to as a “pride moment” for the country, as well as providing brief details on the G20 summit.
The programme was also attended by the Center for research for public policy (CRPP) NGO, which is promoting border tourism and making antidrug awareness programmes in different parts of north Kashmir.
Amid the bone-chilling cold and accumulation of snow, hundreds of people, including men, women, and children, from Mawer witnessed the flag hoisting.
The weapon display was also shown to people on the occasion, and they were briefed about the weapons. During the event, students from various schools performed different cultural programs that included rap songs, solos, gazalas, and other programs.
The participants were also awarded with appreciation certificates by the CCRP.
