Srinagar, Nov 08: “The Omar Abdullah-led government is committed to ensuring the inclusive and equitable development of all sections of society and regions in Jammu & Kashmir,” Minister of Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment, and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmad Rana, said on Friday.
Interacting with scores of delegations and individuals at the Civil Secretariat here, the minister said that steps would be taken to empower the marginalized and downtrodden sections of society, enabling them to benefit from various developmental and welfare schemes.
A delegation led by Choudhary Sirajdin from Kupwara demanded the inclusion of the Gojri language in the 8th Schedule, implementation of the Forest Rights Act, FRC cases, concessions in electricity bills, installation of water pipes in uncovered tribal villages, and reservation in promotions.
A delegation led by Arshad Ahmed from Uri also presented their demands to improve the education scenario in tribal communities, establishment of an EMRS in Uri, water connections to uncovered households, and the functioning of District Tribal offices. Several other delegations and individuals from Pampore, Srinagar, Pahalgam, and other areas also met with the minister.
The deputations and individuals brought several issues before the minister concerning their respective areas and sought timely redressal. Interacting with the delegations and individuals, Rana assured them that all genuine issues put forth would be given due consideration for prompt redressal.
