Srinagar, Feb 04: National Conference (NC) Chief Spokesperson and MLA Zadibal, Tanvir Sadiq on Tuesday said the delay in starting sewage treatment plants across Srinagar due to years of “government neglect” is a thing of the past, emphasising that the Omar Abdullah-led govt is actively working to expedite these projects.
Addressing a workers’ meeting in Channpora, Noushehar in Zadibal constituency, Tanvir sought a thorough account of ration supply and basic utility services in the area. He sought the current status of ongoing development projects.
Amidst the extensive discussions, the party’s local unit functionaries voiced numerous concerns, all of which Tanvir pledged to address promptly and effectively.
Sadiq highlighted the “poor state of affairs” in Srinagar, saying the city has “long been plagued by the actions of non-NC governments”.
“However, the decade-long succession of non-NC governments and undemocratic rule has only worsened the situation. Srinagar is facing numerous issues, including a lack of infrastructure, inadequate health services, high unemployment rates, and a shortage of recreational facilities,” he added.
The MLA added, “The party is fully aware of the challenges faced by our people and is actively working on multiple fronts to address them, with the active involvement of the community.
He assured party members that the government will leave no effort in fulfilling all the promises outlined in its manifesto.
Sadiq urged party members to maintain a strong connection with the public, as they play a crucial role in bridging the gap between the people and the government.
The NC leader later visited the residences of Bureau Chief Gulistan News Network Saleem Wani, in Kangan, and Youth Zonal President Mushtaq Mir in Ganderbal to offer his heartfelt condolences on their bereavement. He along with party’s local unit functionaries prayed for peace to the departed and fortitude to the bereaved.
